Long-term Web Developer for Events & Theme Park Tech Company (PHP/MySQL, UK hours)

We're a small UK company building interactive technology for live events, theme parks and brand experiences — photo booths, games, guest-facing web apps, that kind of thing. Fun projects, big-name clients, and software that real people use at real events. Our web developer of many years is moving on, and we're looking for someone to take over — not for a one-off project, but as our go-to developer for the long term. We're a tight team and we want someone who becomes part of it. What you'd be working on: Maintaining and improving a suite of existing web apps (PHP, MySQL, currently CodeIgniter 3) Helping us migrate to a more modern platform — we're open to your recommendations Building new web apps from scratch for future projects Lots of API integrations with third-party platforms Who we're looking for: An individual freelancer, not an agency (please don't apply if you're an agency — we will ask) Fluent English, written and spoken — you'll take briefs in plain English and explain technical things back to us in plain English Solid, proven PHP/MySQL experience, and comfortable with legacy code as well as modern frameworks Quick and dependable — the events industry is often last-minute, and sometimes things need fixing while a live event is running Available during UK working hours, with some availability for support around key event dates Someone who enjoys making cool things — our projects are creative and varied, and the right person will find that exciting rather than chaotic How we work: We brief clearly, respond fast, and pay promptly.
