WordPress / Shopify Developer Needed for Fast-Pace SEO Agency (Long-Term)

Awkward Media is a fast-growing SEO agency working with businesses across many industries. We are looking for a reliable, sharp, and detail-oriented web developer who can help us publish, edit, optimize, and QA website pages across WordPress, Shopify, and other CMS platforms. This is not just a “follow instructions blindly” role. We need someone who can code quickly, understand the purpose behind the work, catch issues before they go live, and use common sense when making updates to websites. You will be working on SEO-related website tasks, including publishing new pages, updating existing pages, implementing design/content changes, fixing technical issues, improving page layouts, and making sure everything is properly tested before delivery. Responsibilities You will be responsible for: - Publishing and editing pages on WordPress, Shopify, and other CMS platforms - Building and updating service pages, location pages, blogs, landing pages, collection pages, and product pages - Making frontend changes using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and theme/page builder tools - Working with WordPress builders such as Elementor, Divi, Gutenberg, WPBakery, or similar tools - Updating Shopify themes, sections, product pages, collection pages, and content blocks - Implementing SEO basics such as meta titles, meta descriptions, H1/H2 structure, internal links, schema, image alt text, and clean URL formatting - Checking mobile responsiveness, spacing, formatting, links, buttons, forms, and visual consistency - Doing your own QA before marking a task as complete - Identifying obvious issues and flagging them instead of waiting for someone else to catch them - Communicating clearly when something is unclear, broken, risky, or needs approval What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is: - Fast with execution without being careless - Very detail-oriented - Strong in WordPress development - Comfortable working with Shopify - Able to work across different CMS platforms when needed - Good with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP basics, and theme editing - Familiar with SEO implementation basics - Good at checking their own work before sending it for review - Able to think critically instead of just copying and pasting instructions - Comfortable working in a fast-paced agency environment - Responsive, reliable, and easy to communicate with This Role Is a Great Fit If You: - Notice when a page looks broken, even if the task did not specifically mention it - Check desktop and mobile before saying a task is done - Understand that publishing a page means making sure it actually looks good and functions properly - Can work fast but still care about quality - Don’t need to be micromanaged for every small step - Can look at a live website and make smart decisions based on the existing design style - Understand that small mistakes in URLs, headings, links, or layouts can hurt SEO and client trust This Role Is NOT a Good Fit If You: - Only do exactly what is written and ignore obvious issues - Mark tasks complete without checking the live page - Need constant supervision - Are careless with formatting, links, spacing, mobile layout, or publishing details - Are slow to respond during working hours - Have limited WordPress or Shopify experience - Cannot handle multiple small tasks across different websites - Not following SOPs and Guidelines Required Skills Please only apply if you have strong experience with: WordPress Shopify Wix Sqaurespace HTML CSS JavaScript Basic PHP Elementor or similar WordPress builders Theme customization Page publishing and formatting Mobile responsiveness Website QA Basic technical SEO implementation Experience with the following is a plus: Schema markup Google Search Console Speed optimization WooCommerce Webflow Squarespace Wix Website migrations Debugging plugin/theme conflicts cPanel / hosting environments Work Style This can start as a project-based or part-time role, but we are looking for someone who can become a long-term developer for our agency. We value speed, ownership, common sense, and clean execution. You will be working with our SEO and content teams, so clear communication and attention to detail are very important.
