Chrome Extension Web Developer

Job Description We are building a software platform for automotive dealerships that helps salespeople create Facebook Marketplace vehicle listings faster. We already have a web developer working on the dashboard and backend. We are looking for an experienced Chrome Extension developer who can build the browser-extension portion of the platform and work closely with our existing developer. The extension will allow a salesperson to select a vehicle from the dealership’s inventory and automatically populate the corresponding Facebook Marketplace listing fields. The salesperson will then review the information and manually publish the listing. Core Functionality The Chrome extension should be able to: Connect securely to our web-based dashboard. Authenticate dealership users and salespeople. Retrieve vehicle inventory from our backend. Allow the user to select a vehicle from the extension. Open or recognize the Facebook Marketplace vehicle-listing page. Automatically populate listing fields such as: Year Make Model Mileage Price Vehicle type Exterior color Interior color Description Location Retrieve and upload vehicle photos in the proper order. Allow the salesperson to review and adjust the listing before publishing. Send the listing status, errors and activity back to our dashboard. Display clear success or error messages to the user. This will be a human-in-the-loop system. We are not looking for an unattended bot that logs into Facebook or publishes listings without user review. The user will remain logged into their own Facebook account and will manually complete the final publishing step. Technical Requirements The ideal developer should have proven experience with: Chrome Extension development Chrome Manifest V3 JavaScript and TypeScript React or a similar frontend framework Content scripts and service workers DOM manipulation and form autofill Dynamic web applications Image retrieval and browser-based file uploads REST APIs or GraphQL Secure authentication Error logging and debugging Git and collaborative development Experience building browser automation tools, SaaS products or extensions that interact with complex websites is strongly preferred. Important Considerations Facebook regularly updates its interface, so the extension must be built with maintainability in mind. We need someone who understands how to: Work with dynamically generated page elements. Build resilient field-detection methods. Avoid relying entirely on fragile CSS selectors. Create clear error reporting when a page changes. Keep the extension organized so updates can be made quickly. Follow Chrome Web Store requirements. Avoid storing Facebook passwords, session cookies or sensitive account credentials. The extension should be built as original software. We are looking to create similar business functionality to existing automotive listing tools, not copy another company’s proprietary code, branding or protected assets. Initial Deliverables The first milestone will be a working proof of concept that: Connects to our test dashboard or API. Displays a small list of test vehicles. Allows the user to select one vehicle. Detects the Facebook Marketplace vehicle-listing page. Populates the main listing fields. Uploads the vehicle images. Allows the user to review and manually publish the listing. Reports whether the autofill process succeeded or failed. After the proof of concept is validated, we will move into a production-ready version with improved authentication, dealership accounts, logging, error handling and Chrome Web Store deployment.
