Full-Stack Developer Needed for AI Resume Parsing Hiring Platform MVP

Budget: - HOURLY / PART_TIME ⭐ 4.83 (10) United States

javascript, node.js, react-js, api, prototype

We are looking for an experienced full-stack developer to build a Phase 1 MVP for a niche hiring platform. This is not a generic job board. The core product is a structured resume platform. The main workflow is: Candidate uploads resume → AI parses resume → candidate verifies extracted data → employer searches structured candidate profiles → employer saves candidates and manages them on a hiring board. The platform will focus on overseas virtual assistant hiring for real estate and related industries. We already have the product scope, wireframes, and feature requirements. We need a developer who can build the MVP cleanly, with a modular structure so future features can be added later without rewriting major parts of the application. Required Tech Stack Preferred stack: * Frontend: Next.js * Backend: NestJS * Database: MongoDB * AI Parsing: OpenAI API * Payments: Stripe * Authentication: JWT / role-based access * Deployment: VPS / cloud hosting * GitHub repository Please only apply if you are comfortable with this stack or can clearly explain your alternative. ⸻ User Roles The application will have 3 main roles: 1. Candidate 2. Employer 3. Admin Each role needs its own dashboard and permissions. Core MVP Features 1. Candidate Portal Candidate should be able to: * Sign up / log in * Verify email * Reset password * Upload resume, PDF/DOC/DOCX * Let AI parse resume into structured data * Review/edit parsed profile * Complete guided onboarding wizard * Publish/unpublish profile The candidate wizard should include: * Resume upload * AI processing * Employment review * Grouped job clarification * Employment gap clarification * Confirm job titles and dates * Missing jobs question * Software experience confirmation * Skills review * Compensation and availability review 2. Resume Parsing AI should extract structured candidate data from resumes, including: * Professional summary * Employment history * Company/employer * Job title * Start/end dates * Responsibilities * Real estate-related experience * Employment type: employee / contractor / freelance / VA agency / multiple clients * Wage/salary if available * Skills * Software/tools * Education * Languages The platform should not store everything as one resume text block. Important data should be structured and searchable. 3. Employment Clarification The system should detect or flag possible unclear resume entries, such as: * Multiple clients grouped into one job * Freelance work * Contract work * VA agency work * Gig work * Employment gaps * Missing dates * Missing job titles * Missing wage history Candidate should be asked clarification questions during the wizard. Example: “Was this one employer/job, or multiple clients/jobs grouped together?” Options: * One employer/job only * One agency/company, multiple client assignments * Multiple separate clients/jobs * Freelance/contract/gig work * Not sure / needs admin review 4. Software and Skills Database Software should be stored separately from resume text and searchable by employers. Candidate confirms each detected software: * Used / Never Used * Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced / Expert * Years used * Currently using: yes/no Initial software list should include tools like: * Follow Up Boss * Lofty * BoldTrail * BoomTown * Brivity * Compass CRM * Command / KW * Transaction Desk * SkySlope * Open To Close * Sisu * Canva * Google Workspace * Microsoft Office * Slack * Zoom * Teams * Asana * ClickUp * Trello * Monday.com * Adobe Acrobat * ChatGPT * Claude * Gemini If AI detects new software not already in the list, admin should be able to approve/add it. Skills should also be structured with proficiency levels. Example skills: * Communication * Organization * Transaction Coordination * Lead Management * Customer Service * Marketing * Bookkeeping * Calendar Management 5. Employer Portal Employer should be able to: * Sign up / log in * Subscribe through Stripe * Create job posts * Use job templates * View compensation guidance * Search/filter candidates * View structured candidate profiles * Save candidates * Add candidates to hiring board * Move candidates through Kanban stages * Leave notes on candidates Employer should only access full candidate profiles if account is approved and subscription is active. 6. Job Posting and Slot Logic There will be subscription tiers based on active job slots: * Starter: $250/month, 1 active job slot * Team: $500/month, 3 active job slots * Enterprise: manual/contact sales Rules: * One active job = one slot * Draft jobs do not count * Active jobs count toward slot limit * Closing/filling/canceling/expiring a job frees the slot * If employer reaches slot limit, block new active job posting and show upgrade message Job lifecycle: * Active job lasts 30 days * Employer can extend for another 30 days * Expired job no longer counts against active slot limit 7. Stripe Billing Basic Stripe billing required: * Stripe Checkout for Starter and Team subscriptions * Stripe Customer Portal * Webhooks for subscription status updates * Store Stripe subscription ID * Store subscription tier * Store subscription status * Store job slot limit * Block new job posting if subscription is inactive, canceled, or past due Also include: * $100 one-time consultation payment * After payment, show external booking link, such as Calendly * $2,500 one-time Hire Assist payment * Hire Assist only needs basic purchased yes/no record in MVP * Enterprise is not self-serve checkout; admin manually unlocks custom tier and job slot limit No complex coupon system, affiliate payouts, usage-based billing, or advanced billing dashboard. 8. Candidate Match Score Employers should see a simple rule-based match score. No advanced AI ranking required. Score components: * Software match * Experience match * Compensation match * Availability match * Overall match The match score is only a helper. It should not automatically add candidates to the hiring board. 9. Kanban Hiring Board Employer should have a hiring board for each job. Default stages: * New * Review * Interview * Offer * Hired * Disqualified Employer can: * Add candidate to board * Move candidate between stages * View candidate summary card * Add simple notes No internal messaging required for MVP. 10. Admin Portal Admin should be able to manage: * Candidates * Employers * Candidate approval * Employer approval * Job posts * Job templates * Software list * Skills list * Compensation ranges * Job categories * Future industries * Pending AI-detected software * Enterprise/manual custom access * Custom job slot limit Admin does not need complex analytics or advanced billing management. Public Website Build a basic public marketing website with: * Landing/home page * Navigation * For Employers * For Candidates * How It Works * Pricing * Login/signup links * Footer Design direction: * Clean SaaS style * Premium/professional * Not a busy generic job board * Inspired by modern hiring platforms * Responsive desktop/mobile layout We will provide branding direction and wireframes. Out of Scope for MVP Please do not include these in your quote: * Native video upload * DISC/personality assessment integration * WhatsApp/SMS messaging * Full internal messaging/chat * Referral/affiliate system * Advanced AI recommendations * Mobile app * Blog/CMS * Advanced analytics * Advanced billing dashboard * Custom calendar system * Offer letter generator * E-signature workflow * Full Hire Assist workflow Deliverables * Full source code in GitHub * Frontend application * Backend API * Database schema/models * Admin portal * Stripe integration * OpenAI resume parsing integration * Deployment to staging/production * Setup instructions * Environment variable documentation * Basic handoff documentation Budget Please provide your fixed price and estimated timeline. We are comparing proposals based on: * understanding of the scope * relevant full-stack experience * AI/OpenAI integration experience * Stripe subscription experience * ability to build clean modular code * timeline * price Please do not apply with a generic proposal. Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who can think beyond just coding screens. You should be able to understand product logic, database structure, AI parsing workflows, billing rules, and user permissions. Clean architecture is important because this MVP may expand later with more features.
