I am looking for an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to fix a Redcap database connection issue on my Google Cloud Virtual Machine. This is a fixed-price project of $65 for a task that should take an expert less than an hour to resolve.
I am not a developer, but I have already completed 90% of the foundation:
1. I deployed a Google Cloud Virtual Machine server using a standard LAMP stack.
2. I successfully mapped my domain name (redcap.prosperainstitute.org) to point directly to the server.
3. I created the empty database needed for the platform.
4. I uploaded and unzipped the official REDCap installation files into the server's web folder (/var/www/html/redcap/).
The Blocker:
When trying to load the website, the installation wizard fails to open because the server is missing the required background drivers to connect PHP to MySQL. I attempted to install the database modules via the command line, but the system blocked the download due to "expired repository security keys in the underlying OS template. There could be something else going on that I am not catching which is why I need a second set of eyes from an expert.
What you need to do:
- Log into my Google Cloud server securely via SSH.
- Fix the expired repository keys so the server can successfully pull updates.
- Install and activate the missing database connection modules (mysqli and pdo_mysql) explicitly for the active PHP version.
- Ensure that visiting http://prosperainstitute.org successfully bypasses the errors and displays the white REDCap setup wizard page.
- Check A and CNAME codes on wordpress to ensure subdomain is up and running succesfully.
- Perform other tasks required to get Redcap up and running.
Payment will be released immediately once the installation wizard page successfully loads in my browser. I will provide access to the server by safely inviting your email as a Principal / Compute Instance Admin inside my Google Cloud console.
Please reply with your experience handling Google Cloud VM, Redcap administration and PHP extensions. Thank you!
