We are a US-based managed IT provider in Houston, Texas, supporting around 10 small and
mid-sized business clients. We are looking for one engineer to join us long term.
This is not a helpdesk role and it is not a VA role. You will own real work on real client
environments.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
About half the time is managed IT delivery:
- Microsoft 365 administration across multiple client tenants
- Entra ID: security groups, RBAC, Conditional Access, MFA, SSO
- Intune: enrolment, compliance policies, app deployment
- Active Directory to Entra migrations, including profile migration and server decommissioning
- Networking: DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewall rules, VPN
- Backup and recovery, and actually testing restores rather than assuming them
The other half is building things:
- Automations using the Claude API and orchestration tools like n8n
- Python tooling for our own software product (installer, portal, secrets vault)
- Turning manual client processes into something that runs by itself and does not silently
break
- Documentation that a technician can follow without asking questions
WHAT WE NEED
Required:
- Real production experience with Microsoft 365 and Entra ID. Not a lab, not a course.
You have designed group structures somebody else had to live with.
- Intune: enrolment, policy, app deployment, and troubleshooting when a device will not comply
- Active Directory, ideally including at least one migration you can talk about honestly,
including what went wrong
- Networking fundamentals: enough to diagnose rather than guess
- PowerShell and Python. You automate repetitive work without being asked.
- You have built something real with Claude, GPT or similar that is still in use today.
API integration or agent work, not "I have used ChatGPT."
- Written English good enough that your documentation does not need rewriting
- Able to overlap with US Central business hours
Nice to have:
- MS-102, MD-102, SC-300 or AZ-104
- Previous MSP or multi-tenant experience
- n8n, Make or Zapier
- Next.js or similar for occasional web work
WHAT WE ARE HONESTLY LOOKING FOR
The rare part of this role is the combination. Plenty of people can administer Microsoft 365.
Plenty of people can prompt an LLM. Far fewer can run a domain migration on Tuesday and ship
working Python on Thursday.
If you are strong on infrastructure and genuinely curious about AI tooling, that works well.
We can teach the AI side to a good engineer. We cannot teach years of infrastructure instinct
to someone who has only written prompts.
HOW WE HIRE
1. Short intro call
2. A technical conversation where we give you a real scenario from our work and talk it through
3. Offer
WORKING WITH US
Remote, long term, 30+ hours per week. Small team, so you will talk to clients, own outcomes,
and have real say in how things get built. Claude Code is part of our daily toolchain.
Client data is handled carefully. Named accounts, MFA, no shared credentials, no local copies.
You will be held to the same standard we sell to our clients.
Please tell us in your reply about one migration or automation you are genuinely proud of, and
one that did not go to plan.
