Python/Node engineer — AI bot development (contract, hourly)

Backend engineer for AI bot development (ongoing, hourly) We run a growing stack of AI automation bots that support a construction and restoration company, and we're looking for an experienced engineer to help build, maintain, and extend them on an as-needed hourly basis. You'll pick up scoped tasks, ship clean code, and communicate clearly in English. What you'll work on: Python and Node.js services that integrate with LLM APIs (Anthropic / OpenAI) Integrations with Slack, Gmail, Google Workspace, and QuickBooks Online Data pipelines pulling from CRM exports into SQLite and structured stores Deploying and maintaining services on Railway Must-haves: 3+ years building production Python and/or Node.js Hands-on experience integrating third-party REST APIs and webhooks Comfortable working with LLM APIs and prompt/tool design Clear written English and reliable async communication Available for overlap with US Pacific business hours Nice-to-haves: Railway, Docker, or similar deployment experience Bilingual English/Spanish (some bot output is bilingual) Slack app / bot framework experience Familiarity with QuickBooks Online or accounting-data APIs How we work: We'll start with one small paid task so we can both feel out the fit before scaling up hours. Pay is hourly, rate based on experience, with likely ongoing work for the right person.
