We are seeking a senior frontend-focused software engineer to support scalable, dynamic email template systems. This role is best suited for a strong frontend engineer with modern React, TypeScript, and JavaScript experience who can also work deeply with reusable email components, Apache Velocity/VTL-style templates, responsive HTML/CSS, APIs, localization, and personalization at scale. This is not an email developer-first role. The ideal candidate has a strong software engineering foundation, frontend engineering depth, and the ability to build scalable, component-based solutions for dynamic, personalized email experiences. Enterprise experience strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities - Build and maintain scalable frontend and email template components using modern web development practices. - Develop dynamic email templates using Apache Velocity/VTL-style macros such as #set, #if, #foreach, and #define. - Compose reusable Velocity components and macros into full email templates. - Translate Figma designs into modular, maintainable code. - Work with shared design systems and reusable components instead of one-off hand-authored HTML. - Determine when to extend an existing component versus building a new one. - Integrate user interfaces and email templates with backend platforms and API-driven data sources. - Connect to, query, consume, and format internal or external API data for conditional, logic-driven dynamic emails. - Build templates for scale, including 100+ locales, localized copy, dynamic data, per-recipient personalization, and array-based looping. - Hand-code responsive, accessible HTML/CSS optimized for email client rendering limitations across Outlook, Gmail, and Apple Mail. - Work fluently with Git, GitLab or GitHub, the command line, and modern IDE-based development workflows. - Collaborate in environments using CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code tooling, and AWS primitives. Must-Have Skills - Senior-level frontend or software engineering execution. - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with at least 5 years of related experience, or Master’s degree with at least 3 years of related experience. - Current or most recent role should likely be Software Engineer or Frontend Engineer with a frontend focus. - Strong frontend development experience using React, TypeScript, and JavaScript. - Experience integrating frontend interfaces with backend platforms or services. - Strong command of Apache Velocity, VTL, or Velocity-style macro templating. - Hands-on experience with macros such as #set, #if, #foreach, and #define. - Experience composing components or macros into full email templates. - Experience working with scalable design systems and shared reusable components. - Ability to build for personalization, localization, and dynamic data at scale. - Proven experience consuming API data and using it in conditional, logic-driven templates or user experiences. - Advanced responsive HTML/CSS coding experience for email clients. - Experience building accessible email or frontend experiences. - Familiarity with rendering limitations across Outlook, Gmail, and Apple Mail. - Strong Git, command line, and IDE workflow skills. - Experience translating Figma designs into modular code. - Working knowledge of AWS primitives such as compute, storage, networking, and IAM. - Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code tooling such as Terraform. - Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab CI. Nice-to-Have Skills - Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Windsurf, Claude, Claude Code, or AI-driven code fixes. - Prior exposure to component internationalization or localization frameworks. - Prior experience with email-specific frontend systems or dynamic email platforms. Required Tools & Platforms - React - TypeScript - JavaScript - Apache Velocity, VTL, or Velocity-style macros - HTML - CSS - Figma - Git - GitLab or GitHub - Command line - Modern IDE workflows - AWS primitives including compute, storage, networking, and IAM - Terraform or comparable Infrastructure-as-Code tooling - GitLab CI or comparable CI/CD tooling - Outlook, Gmail, and Apple Mail email rendering environments Location, Time & Engagement - Remote contract role. - LATAM-based candidates only. - 100% allocation. - Expected 40 hours per week. - Contract currently expected to run through March 31, 2027. - Candidates should be able to collaborate effectively with U.S.-based teams and stakeholders.
