Technical Product Lead — Turn Client Requests into Shipped Features

Budget: - HOURLY / FULL_TIME ⭐ 4.98 (31) United States

web-programming

We're a productized development shop building and hosting custom web apps for SMB clients on a subscription model. Modern stacks (Next.js/React, Postgres/Supabase, Node, cloud hosting), heavy use of AI-assisted development (Claude Code, Cursor, v0), standardized templates, structured request queues. We're hiring one person to own delivery end to end: take incoming client requests, turn them into clear specs with acceptance criteria, drive the build using our AI tooling and our existing developer, review the work, and get it deployed and confirmed with the client. You're the bridge between "what the client asked for" and "what ships" — part product manager, part hands-on engineer. What you'll do: Convert client requests into scoped specs with acceptance criteria (we have a structured intake process and a credit-based pricing menu — you'll enforce it) Build rapid prototypes/mockups for client approval before code (v0 or similar) Break specs into tasks; execute directly and/or coordinate with our developer Review all output — code quality, matches spec, follows our stack templates Deploy on our standardized infrastructure and run client demos/confirmations Keep 3–6 concurrent client workstreams moving without dropping any Flag scope creep early and reprice it — protecting delivery margins is part of the job Hours & structure: Start ~15–20 hrs/week with a paid 2-week trial project on real work (our docs, templates, and a live feature request). Grows toward full-time as our client book fills. Long-term role for the right person. You: 4+ years full-stack development (you can build and review, not just coordinate) Real client-facing experience — you've run calls, managed expectations, said "that's out of scope" to someone's face and kept the relationship Fluent with AI coding tools as a daily driver, not a novelty Strong written English; async-first communicator (Slack/Loom over meetings) Organized under parallel workstreams — you don't need someone chasing you Bonus: experience at an agency, dev shop, or productized service Upwork profile requirements (hard filters): 95%+ Job Success Score Work history showing both development AND client/product responsibility (not pure staff-aug coding) Identity verified To apply: skip the cover-letter boilerplate. Instead: (1) In 3–4 sentences, describe a time a client asked for something mid-project that wasn't in scope — what did you do? (2) Tell us your current AI dev workflow in 2–3 sentences — which tools, and what you still do by hand. Applications without both answers will not be read. Budget: hourly, propose your rate. Paid trial project at that rate before any commitment.
