This is social-meets-gaming platform for iOS and Android. Users post photos and videos into themed contests, the community votes, and every submission is tied to a Unity avatar that battles in interactive arenas where votes power the avatar’s shields and attack. Think social feed plus live competition where anyone can win on community votes, not follower count or skill (except for in the battle arena!!!)
The product is largely built and approaching launch. I built most of it myself as a non-technical founder using AI-assisted coding over several months, and now I need an experienced engineer to come in, pressure-test the foundation, fix what needs fixing, and help me get it cleanly into the App Store and Google Play.
There’s a strong likelihood this turns into a long-term engagement if the fit is right. The initial audit is the trial run for both of us.
What’s in the build today
• Social layer: category-based posting and voting, following, likes, direct messaging
• Real-time gaming layer in Unity: user-controlled avatars battling in arenas, with live votes feeding abilities. Roadmap includes more arena environments and themes beyond combat, plus an AI-driven in-game commentary/entertainment layer
• Avatar pipeline built on Mixamo (full character swaps, animation states, inventory-driven skins)
• Mobile shell: PWA wrapped via Capacitor, with the Unity layer integrated as a library inside the iOS shell (that integration is already done and committed)
• Backend: Supabase (Postgres) with a custom schema, edge functions (Deno/TypeScript), and tables covering contests, voting, brackets, arena assignments, inventory, and a virtual economy
• In-app dual-currency economy and storefront, plus an admin console for managing categories and store items
• AI layer that analyzes uploaded images
• Fraud detection: integrity scoring, bot-farming detection, 2FA, device fingerprinting, IP-based controls
Scope of work
• Audit the existing codebase, architecture, and infrastructure end to end, and document findings and recommendations in plain language
• Review the iOS and Android build setup, including the Unity layer and the Capacitor wrapper, and confirm launch-readiness for both stores
• Assess scalability and stability under load (I’ve run simulations but we need to really test this at scale) with attention to the real-time voting and battle-sync paths
• Review and validate the fraud-detection system and recommend or implement improvements
• Review the Supabase backend and advise on production hardening and scaling (I’ve already run an initial security audit and have a hardening checklist in progress, so part of this is validating and finishing that work)
• Correct and refactor AI-generated code where needed, and implement fixes following the audit
• Work closely with me and explain things in terms a non-technical founder can actually act on. I also need help adding features, game objects, asset creation if possible and polish to make as premium as possible.
Required experience
• Strong, demonstrable Unity experience, ideally mobile games
• Solid iOS and Android development, including app store deployment
• PWA-to-native wrapping (Capacitor or equivalent) and Swift; able to speak to the trade-offs vs React Native / Flutter
• Supabase or comparable Postgres backends, including custom SQL schema design
• Working knowledge of HTML/UI, Python, and Node
• Comfortable auditing and improving an existing, partly AI-generated codebase
• Excellent communicator who’s done well working directly with non-technical founders
Nice to have
• Fraud/bot detection and security experience in consumer or gaming apps
• Real-time systems experience (websockets, live state sync, leaderboards)
• Experience shipping games or social apps to scale
Engagement details
• Duration: open-ended. Initial audit and very strong potential for an ongoing long-term role
• Commitment: hourly to start, flexible, can grow to part-time or full-time as the work develops and we see what we can do as a team
• Location: remote. I’m on US Eastern Time and value real-time collaboration. Several hours of daily overlap with US Eastern is important. European time zones with ~6 hours of overlap work fine
