# WordPress / WooCommerce Technical Audit & Scope of Work Required We have an established WooCommerce / WordPress e-commerce website that has been running for several years. Unfortunately, very little backend maintenance has been carried out over the last 3–4 years, and we believe the site now requires a comprehensive technical review. **At this stage, we are NOT looking for someone to start making changes.** Instead, we are looking for an experienced WordPress/WooCommerce developer to carry out a thorough technical audit and produce a detailed scope of work outlining: * Current WordPress version and whether it requires updating. * WooCommerce update requirements. * Theme compatibility and whether it should be updated or replaced. * Plugin audit (outdated, redundant, unsupported or conflicting plugins). * PHP version compatibility. * Security review and any vulnerabilities. * Website performance and speed issues. * Database health and optimisation recommendations. * Backup and recovery arrangements. * Hosting recommendations (if applicable). * SEO issues caused by outdated software or technical problems. * Any code customisations that may cause issues when updating. * Overall website health and technical debt. * Any other recommendations you believe should be addressed to bring the website up to current best practice. ## Deliverable We would like a written report that includes: * A prioritised list of recommended work. * A brief explanation of why each task is required. * Estimated effort (hours or cost) for each item. * Identification of any high-risk updates or areas requiring additional investigation. ## Future Opportunity Once we have reviewed the audit, we will decide whether it is more cost-effective to: 1. Proceed with updating and modernising the existing WordPress/WooCommerce website, or 2. Migrate the business to a more modern platform such as Shopify. If we decide to continue with WordPress, there is the potential for ongoing development work with the successful freelancer. ## Please include in your proposal: * Examples of similar WordPress/WooCommerce technical audits you have completed. * Your experience with updating older WooCommerce websites. * Whether you have experience migrating businesses from WooCommerce to Shopify. * Your estimated cost and timescale for carrying out the audit only.
