Category: DevOps & Solution Architecture / Web Development Overview I have two Laravel projects and need a DNS/server change done cleanly, with minimal downtime. Project A runs on Server 1 inside a Docker container and currently serves [example.com]. It needs to move to [app.example.com]. Project B is a separate PHP project on Server 2. It needs to take over [example.com]. Both apps stay where they are — this is a domain/routing job, not a code migration. Scope of work DNS: create the subdomain record, repoint the apex/www records to Server 2, advise on TTL ahead of the switch. Reverse proxy config on both servers (Nginx / Traefik / Caddy — [state which you use]) including the container's published ports and any host-level proxy in front of Docker. SSL: issue and auto-renew certificates for the new subdomain and for the domain on Server 2 (Let's Encrypt/certbot or [your provider]). Laravel config updates on Project A: APP_URL, session/cookie domain, Sanctum stateful domains, CORS, queue/mail links, config cache clear — plus a check for hardcoded URLs. Update any third-party callbacks tied to the old URL: [payment gateway webhooks / OAuth redirect URIs / SMTP / analytics] — I'll provide access. Docker: update env vars and compose/service definitions, rebuild or restart containers as needed. 301 redirects from old URLs to the subdomain where appropriate, so existing links and SEO don't break. Verification: both sites load over HTTPS, no mixed content, logins/sessions work, cron/queue workers still run. Short rollback plan in case something goes wrong.
