Automated Tree Crown Delineation from Satellite Imagery - Python + Raster Analysis We're a conservation nonprofit working with city parks departments across 12 cities . We need to inventory urban tree canopy to track carbon sequestration and cooling effects. Manually digitizing tree crowns from high-resolution satellite imagery (0.5m resolution) takes our GIS team weeks per city. We have gigabytes of orthophoto imagery, but need to automatically detect and delineate individual tree crowns with acceptable accuracy (70%+ precision) so our team can QA and refine the boundaries instead of drawing from scratch. What We Need Build a Python tool that takes high-resolution orthophoto GeoTIFFs (0.5m RGB or multispectral) and outputs individual tree crown polygons as a shapefile or GeoPackage. This isn't a quick project. We need someone who wants to build something that actually works and helps real conservation work, not someone looking for a quick gig. Looking forward to your applying.
