# OpenCart 3 & 4 Developer with Journal 3 Experience We are looking for an experienced **OpenCart developer** to support e-commerce websites on an ongoing freelance basis. This is a **contract opportunity**, with work allocated on a project-by-project and task-by-task basis. We are looking to build a reliable long-term relationship with an individual developer who can support both planned development work and ad hoc technical issues. ## Scope of Work Typical tasks may include: * Investigating and resolving OpenCart issues * Supporting OpenCart 3 and OpenCart 4 websites * Making changes within Journal 3 * Developing or modifying extensions * Updating themes and front-end functionality * Supporting third-party APIs and integrations * Troubleshooting checkout, payment, shipping and product issues * Improving website performance and stability * Maintaining existing bespoke functionality * Working safely across staging and live environments * Diagnosing issues within existing or legacy code ## Required Experience You should have strong commercial experience with: * OpenCart 3 * OpenCart 4 * Journal 3 * PHP * MySQL * HTML, CSS and JavaScript * OCMOD and OpenCart events * OpenCart extension development * Git and version-controlled development * APIs and third-party integrations Experience with payment gateways, shipping integrations, Google Merchant Centre feeds and high-volume e-commerce websites would be an advantage. ## What We Are Looking For We are not looking for someone who simply installs extensions. We need a developer who can understand an existing system, identify the underlying cause of an issue and implement a reliable solution without disrupting other parts of the website.
