Senior Software Engineer

We are looking for a long-term, full-time, fully-remote, senior full-stack/generalist engineer to join our team of passionate and talented engineers who are building cutting-edge AI solutions for the healthcare industry in the US. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining our web applications, using MySQL/Django/React.js as your main technology stack, while being comfortable with Android and iOS development. You will also design and implement RESTful APIs that connect with our AI models and third-party services. You will work closely with our management, engineering, and research teams to deliver high-quality features that meet the needs of our clients. You will also have the opportunity to learn new skills and technologies as we grow and scale our products. Our main product is a friendship platform that combines AI and human friends to socially support and coach users toward healthy behaviors. We've shown a range of significant outcomes already (improved sleep quality & quantity, reduced anxiety, improved personal goal attainment, improved mental and physical health, etc), proven our a novel method of delivering scalable AI-powered friendships safely and responsibly, and are starting to pilot with US-based health and social care providers. Our cutting-edge work is funded by multi-year federal R&D awards. To be successful in this role, you should have... - At least 5 years of experience as a full-stack engineer, including in a startup environment - Expert-level experience with engineering, coding, and maintaining production-grade Python and Django applications, as well as general web development best practices - Expert-level experience with MySQL databases - Expert-level experience with React.js and frontend development - Significant experience with API design, development, and integration, using tools like FastAPI and Swagger - Significant experience with mobile app design and development, including in Android and iOS - Significant experience designing and developing advanced data structures and algorithms - Significant experience working in high-security environments, preferably subject to US HIPAA laws for healthcare information - Familiarity with Azure cloud infrastructure setup and maintenance for production systems - Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and debugging skills - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and agile environment - Willingness to serve on an engineering on-call rotation to resolve any issues that may occur in production - Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal And of course... - Master-level skills in leveraging your human engineering experience, and taste to effectively coordinate the work of the latest frontier-level design & development agents, without having AI slop overshadow your authentic human skills - Drive and affinity to proactively stay current with tech & AI, rapidly learning anything and everything you need to excel at your work, combating cognitive atrophy and AI slop with authentic human understanding Note: Software Engineers at Friendi.fi do not write any code.
