AI Developer & Mentor for Debate App

Project Overview: I’m looking for an experienced Python and AI developer who can both build a real-world application and teach the development process to a high school junior in the United States. The student is interested in learning software development and AI through a hands-on project rather than traditional coursework. The goal is for the student to actively participate throughout the project, understand the architecture, and learn how each component works. The application to be built is an AI-powered debate coaching platform that analyzes debate cases and provides structured feedback using a large language model. This is a mentorship-focused project. Building the application is only one part of the engagement. Teaching and explaining the concepts clearly is equally important. What I’m Looking For The ideal freelancer should be comfortable acting as both: * A software developer * A technical mentor Throughout the project, I expect the developer to explain: * Why specific technologies are chosen * How the overall architecture works * How the frontend communicates with the backend * How authentication works * How databases store application data * How APIs work * How AI models are integrated * How prompt engineering is implemented * How deployment works * Best practices for writing clean, maintainable code The student should finish the project understanding not only what was built, but also how to continue improving it independently. Preferred Technology Stack Preferred technologies include: * Python * Streamlit * Anthropic Claude API * Supabase (PostgreSQL) * Google OAuth * Gmail API * GitHub * Streamlit Cloud If you believe another technology would be better for educational or architectural reasons, I’m open to recommendations. ⸻ Application Features The application should include: * Google Sign-In * Student login * Debate case submission * AI-powered analysis * Structured feedback scorecard * Saved history * Email results * Coach/Admin dashboard * Basic analytics A detailed feature specification will be shared with the selected freelancer. ⸻ Mentorship Expectations The selected freelancer should be willing to: * Meet regularly over Zoom or Google Meet. * Explain concepts while building instead of simply delivering code. * Encourage the student to write portions of the code. * Review the student’s work and answer questions. * Assign small learning tasks between sessions when appropriate. * Record sessions if possible, or provide written notes after important lessons. * Explain debugging techniques rather than simply fixing issues.
