WordPress Developer for Site Maintenance Only (Ongoing) — No New Builds

Job Type: Freelance / Hourly | Location: Remote | Agency: The Janice Christopher Marketing Agency About Us We're a marketing agency managing a portfolio of 25-35 WordPress websites for our clients. We handle strategy, content, design, and SEO in-house — we need a reliable developer to own the ongoing technical care of our client sites. This is a maintenance-focused role; you will not be building new sites. We're moving away from our current outsourced maintenance provider and want to build a long-term relationship with an individual freelancer. What You'll Be Doing * Manage hosting/maintenance for client sites across two service tiers (15 or 30 min/month included edit time per site) * Perform minor edits: text changes, image swaps, blog uploads * Troubleshoot and resolve WordPress issues — broken plugins, theme conflicts, performance problems, security issues * Keep WordPress core, themes, and plugins updated without breaking sites * Monitor uptime and respond to issues as they arise * Support monthly client reporting (backups, security, performance) * Run core web vital audits and make recommendations * Apply basic SEO best practices (we have a dedicated SEO specialist for strategy — you're implementing technical/on-page items) * Occasional small, one-off edit requests outside the included monthly time (billed separately, hourly) What We're Looking For * Strong hands-on WordPress experience, especially troubleshooting and maintenance (not primarily building) * Elementor proficiency required; comfort with other builders (Divi, Beaver Builder, etc.) a plus * Comfortable with light custom code (HTML/CSS/PHP/JS) when needed to fix an issue * Working knowledge of basic on-page SEO * Experience managing multiple sites/clients simultaneously — comfortable juggling many small tasks across many sites * Reliable, responsive, and organized * Bonus: experience with site security, backups, and performance optimization Details * Pay: Hourly (rate based on experience — please include your rate in your application) * Workload: Steady monthly maintenance work across 25-35 sites, plus occasional small one-off requests * Tools: WordPress, Elementor, plus whatever hosting/security stack we transition to To Apply Please include: 1.
