We are a law firm seeking a skilled developer to create an automated backup system for our Clio practice management software to OneDrive. The solution should ensure continuous and secure backups of our client files and data, with minimal manual intervention. Ideal candidates will have experience in API integration and cloud storage solutions, specifically with Clio and OneDrive. Attention to detail and the ability to ensure data security are essential for this project.
Scope of Work
The solution must back up the following Clio data types to OneDrive:
Documents — all files attached to matters
Matter notes and activity logs
Email communications logged in Clio (Clio-side copies)
Contact records (exportable format, e.g. JSON or CSV, refreshed periodically)
Folder structure requirement (non-negotiable): The OneDrive structure must mirror Clio's hierarchy.
Technical Requirements
Use Clio's REST API (OAuth 2.0) to pull data — Clio API documentation is publicly available
Use Microsoft Graph API to write to OneDrive/SharePoint
The solution must handle incremental sync — only new or modified items since last run, not full re-downloads each time
Must include error logging and a mechanism to alert on sync failures (email or Teams notification acceptable)
Must handle Clio API rate limits gracefully
Preferred approach: Custom script (Python or Node.js) hosted on Azure Functions, AWS Lambda, or equivalent serverless environment. Power Automate is acceptable if you can demonstrate it can fully replicate the folder structure logic.
Deliverables
Working, deployed backup solution with scheduled runs (minimum every 24 hours)
Technical documentation covering: architecture, API credentials setup, how to modify the sync schedule, and how to add/remove data types
One round of post-deployment testing with our live Clio environment
Handover call (30 min) to walk our team through the solution
