Job Description We are looking for an experienced, forward-thinking Product Developer / Hardware Engineer to help lead the physical design, component sourcing, and prototyping phase for The Vortex Ring—a cutting-edge, biometric-integrated wearable tech project. This isn't just another standard fitness tracker. The Vortex Ring is built for sophisticated, high-integrity data tracking, blending advanced biometric sensors with a sleek, premium aesthetic. We need someone who can bridge the gap between complex engineering and elegant, ergonomic industrial design. Key Responsibilities Component Architecture: Research, select, and source ultra-compact hardware components (microcontrollers, BLE modules, biometric sensors, and specialized power management systems) that fit a ring form factor. Prototyping & Iteration: Develop functional schematic designs, PCB layouts, and 3D-printed enclosure models for rapid prototyping. DFM (Design for Manufacturing): Optimize the mechanical and electrical layout to ensure the product can transition smoothly from prototype to scalable factory production. Vendor & Supply Chain Coordination: Interface with component suppliers and manufacturing partners to oversee initial sample runs. Required Skills & Experience Proven track record in wearable technology product development (smart rings, smartwatches, or ultra-compact IoT devices). Deep expertise in PCB design and layout for space-constrained electronics (Altium, Eagle, or KiCad). Strong experience with biometric sensor integration (such as PPG for heart rate, skin temperature sensors, or galvanic skin response). Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling for product enclosures (SolidWorks, Fusion 360) with a keen eye for ergonomic, high-end industrial design. Experience navigating the manufacturing landscape, including component sourcing and DFM constraints. Project Details & Logistics Project Type: Contract / Milestone-based (with potential for long-term ongoing collaboration). Scope: Initial phase focuses on hardware architecture review, sensor selection optimization, and layout strategy for the next prototype iteration. Location: Remote friendly. If you have a passion for pushing the boundaries of what wearable tech can do and want to build a product designed to make a real impact, please apply with a brief overview of your relevant hardware experience and portfolio examples of compact wearables you’ve brought to life
