FlashLogic — Next Generation Diesel Tuning & Diagnostics Platform
I am looking for an experienced software engineer or small development team to help build a modern diesel tuning and diagnostics platform inspired by EFILive, HP Tuners, and EZ Lynk.
This is NOT a basic tuning app or generic OBD scanner.
The goal is to create a professional-grade desktop platform that simplifies diesel ECM tuning by translating complex calibration data into plain English so mechanics and enthusiasts can actually understand what they are modifying.
Examples:
Instead of displaying raw calibration names like:
• FN035A
• Torque_Limiter_2
• BoostTbl_3D
The software should display:
• Desired Boost Pressure
• Driver Demand Torque
• Fuel Rail Pressure Target
Along with:
• Descriptions
• Safety warnings
• Recommended ranges
• Units/conversions
• Real-time graphs
• Tooltips explaining tuning effects
⸻
PHASE 1 GOALS
Build a polished desktop prototype/UI architecture using:
• Python
• PySide6 / Qt6
• Modular architecture
• Dark modern UI
• High-performance dashboard styling
• Plugin-ready structure
The first phase does NOT require fully functional ECM flashing yet.
Primary focus:
• UI/UX
• Software architecture
• Calibration editor framework
• Logging/dashboard concepts
• Expandable backend foundation
⸻
TARGET FEATURES
Main modules:
• ECM Reading
• ECM Writing
• Live Data Monitoring
• Diagnostics
• DTC Management
• Calibration Editor
• Turbo Controls
• Fuel System Controls
• Transmission Controls
• Data Logging
• Cloud Tune Storage
• Remote Tune Delivery
Future support planned for:
• Cummins
• Duramax
• Power Stroke
• Gas vehicles
• Transmission tuning
⸻
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Preferred experience:
• CAN Bus
• J2534
• UDS protocols
• Automotive diagnostics
• ECU/ECM communication
• Real-time threaded applications
• Performance dashboards
• Industrial UI design
Planned architecture includes:
• Vehicle Database
• Calibration Definition Parser
• Flashing Engine
• Diagnostics Engine
• Logging Engine
• Plugin System
• Security Layer
⸻
VISUAL STYLE
The software should feel:
• Industrial
• Aggressive
• Modern
• High-end
• Touch friendly
• Similar to OEM engineering software mixed with modern performance tuning platforms
Design inspiration:
• EFILive
• HP Tuners
• EZ Lynk
• Haltech
• MoTeC
Dark theme preferred with realistic gauges, graphing, and performance-oriented UI.
⸻
WHAT I NEED FROM YOU
Please include:
• Relevant automotive or CAN/J2534 experience
• Examples of UI-heavy desktop apps
• Python/PySide experience
• Architecture recommendations
• Estimated timeline
• Suggested roadmap for future ECM flashing integration
Bonus if you have:
• Automotive tuning experience
• Embedded systems knowledge
• ECU reverse engineering familiarity
• Real-time data visualization experience
This will likely become a long-term project if phase 1 goes well.
