Map UI Designer/Developer — Mobile Navigation App

I'm building a mobile navigation app covering a dense urban area with both indoor and outdoor wayfinding across ~30 venues. The routing engine and data layer are built (React/TypeScript, Mapbox GL JS). I need someone to own the visual map layer. What you'll do: Configure Mapbox base map style and layer styling for a consumer navigation experience Design how routes, nodes, zones, POIs, and transit stops appear at different zoom levels Draw zone polygons for venue areas using an existing editor tool Build consumer-facing map UI components — route display, step list, pins, tooltips — in React Ensure everything works on mobile (iOS Safari, Android Chrome) in varied lighting conditions You should have: Strong Mapbox GL JS and Mapbox Studio experience Experience designing map UIs for mobile Comfortable working in an existing React/TypeScript codebase An eye for information hierarchy on small screens A portfolio showing maps you've styled You do not need to: Touch the routing algorithm Work on backend or data pipeline Understand the broader product Structure: Hourly, time-tracked.
