I've built a live Django/Python SaaS with AI features using modern AI-assisted development, and I've done the product, design, and functional mapping myself. It's real, deployed, and working — now I want an experienced engineer to review it and take technical ownership while I focus on product.
The AI, and where it's headed: the app uses LLMs for document extraction (invoices/receipts and equipment manuals), some detection, and an in-app assistant/chatbot with tool-use. I run a blend of cloud (Claude) and local open-source models (Ollama) — and a priority is moving invoice and manual processing onto self-hosted open-source models for cost, control, and privacy, while keeping the cloud model where accuracy demands it. Invoice extraction already has a local path today; manuals are next.
How we'll start: a paid stack review — the codebase, architecture, deployment (Render), background jobs (Celery), and the AI setup; tell me what's solid, what's risky, what you'd improve (quick wins vs. bigger bets). If it goes well, you take over ongoing development.
About the code: built rapidly with AI-assisted development and thoroughly documented. Not looking for a rewrite — read working code, respect what's there, improve incrementally.
Room to grow: a second app in a different industry on a very similar stack could use the same help.
You should have: strong production Python/Django; real experience running open-source/local models (Ollama, llama.cpp, or vLLM — quantization, structured/JSON output, self-hosting); comfort with cloud LLM APIs too; and the judgment to own a codebase.
To apply: describe a codebase you inherited or reviewed and how you ramped, plus a project where you ran or self-hosted an open-source model — which model, how you served it, and what was hard.
