PROJECT: Rotary Memory Phone System
Goal:
Create a fully assembled vintage rotary phone that functions as both a wedding audio guestbook and a long-term family memory phone.
Required Features:
Wedding Mode:
* Pick up handset
* Greeting message plays automatically
* Guest leaves message after beep
* Message saved automatically
* No dialing required
Home Mode:
* Pick up handset
* Dial category number
* Play existing messages for that category
* Option to record new messages
* Messages organized by category
Example of categories:
0801= Wedding Messages
0202 = household member 1 - record on record toggle. Playback persons messages on playback mode
1001 = household member 2
Etc.
with the ability to program new numbers for more people.
Hardware Requirements:
* Vintage rotary phone
* Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W (or whatever you think works best for this)
* Internal SD card storage
* USB export capability
* Functional rotary dial input
* Functional handset microphone and speaker
* Hidden Wedding/Home mode switch
* Optional LED indicator for new messages
Recording Requirements:
* Recordings stored as WAV or MP3 files
* Organized by category folders
* Accessible via SD card and USB export
Playback Requirements:
* Phone announces available messages
* Playback through handset speaker
* Random playback option
* Sequential playback option
Delivery Requirements:
* Fully assembled and tested
* Demonstration video showing all functions
* Backup copy of source code
* Wiring documentation
* Ready for immediate use at wedding and later home installation
