Convert PDF for Illustrator Editing

I have a PDF that must be rebuilt in Adobe Illustrator so I can freely edit every piece of text and every image. The finished file should mirror the current layout and sizing but give me true, live text (not outlines) and properly placed, high-resolution images on unlocked layers...
