AI Engineer (Claude, MCP) for Finance Teams Category: AI & Machine Learning Type: Hourly, ongoing Hours: 10 to 20 per week to start, with room to grow Rate: $55 to $90 per hour, with room above that for exceptional demonstrated experience Location: United States, Canada, or Mexico only Start: Paid 10-hour trial task on a live client workstream ________________________________________ Read this part first This is integration engineering, not model research. You will not train, fine-tune, or evaluate models. There is no GPU budget, no dataset labeling, and no RAG pipeline to build from first principles. If your proposal leads with PyTorch, LoRA, embeddings benchmarks, or a vector database you like, we are not a fit. What you will do is build things on top of Claude that other people depend on: MCP servers, Claude Skills, data layers wired into accounting and ERP systems, and the models a finance team runs their processes. If that sounds like a step down from research, it is not the job for you. If you’re excited about building solutions for real companies that actually ship, keep reading. ________________________________________ About the work AMW Analytics configures Claude into working analytical environments for corporate finance teams. Our clients are FP&A and finance leaders at companies in the $100M to $1B revenue range who are already on Claude Team or Claude Enterprise and are not getting the analytical results the platform is capable of. We do not sell a product. Every engagement is a configured environment inside the client's own Claude tenant. Recent and current work includes FP&A and accounting deployment for a tech startup company and a bank statement processing pipeline for a beverage manufacturer. AMW’s founder handles diagnosis, scoping, client communication, and review. You handle the build. That division is deliberate and stable: you will not be asked to sell, and you will not be left to guess at requirements. You will get a written spec with acceptance criteria and the autonomy to execute against it. ________________________________________ What you will actually do Take a scoped statement of work and build it. In practice that means writing and deploying MCP servers, authoring Claude Skills, wiring data layers against accounting and ERP systems, building the SQL and Python underneath, writing Project Instructions, and testing until the outputs are right. You will work heavily in Claude Code. You will document what you built so the next person, including the client, can maintain it. Expect close collaboration early and more independence as trust builds. ________________________________________ Required - Demonstrated production Claude work you can show us. Not experiments. Systems that ran, that other people used, that broke and got fixed. Repos, links, or a screen-share walkthrough all work. This is the requirement that matters most - A technical foundation: software engineering, data engineering, analytics engineering, solutions architecture, or similar - Hands-on MCP server development - Strong Python and SQL - Fluency with Claude Code and comfort working from written specs without daily check-ins - Git, and the discipline to keep a repo clean - Located in the United States, Canada, or Mexico, with at least four hours of daily overlap with Pacific time - Fluent written and spoken English - Willingness to sign an NDA and an IP assignment agreement, and to perform all work personally with no subcontracting ________________________________________ On years of experience There is no minimum. I am not screening on tenure, because the thing I actually need is someone who can take a written spec and come back with something that works, and years in the industry predicts that poorly for this particular kind of work. Somebody three years into their career who has been building with MCP since it shipped can be better at this than somebody with twelve years who started last month. Show me what you have built and let that argue for you. ________________________________________ Preferred, not required - Bachelor's degree in a technical field - Experience with accounting or ERP systems: QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Zoho Books, Oracle, SAP, etc. - Finance or FP&A domain exposure of any kind - Data pipeline and ETL experience - An existing Anthropic certification ________________________________________ Certification Anthropic's certification exams and preparation materials run through the Claude Partner Network, so we do not expect you to arrive certified. AMW is a Registered partner and will sponsor and pay for you to sit the Claude Certified Architect (Foundations) or Claude Certified Developer (Foundations) exam within 60 days of starting. Passing it is a condition of the ongoing engagement. ________________________________________ How this starts A paid 10-hour trial task on a real client workstream, at your quoted rate. The point of the trial is for both of us to find out how this works in practice: whether the spec I write is clear enough for you to run with, and how much back-and-forth we need before something is right. If that goes well we move to an ongoing arrangement at 10 to 20 hours per week. This is intended to be a long relationship, not a one-off.
