# Senior Esri GIS & CAD Data Conversion Specialist (Long-Term Contract) We are looking for a highly experienced **Senior GIS Consultant** to become a long-term extension of our team. This is **not** a one-off conversion project. We require an expert who can consistently convert client CAD data into production-ready Esri GIS datasets while helping us continuously improve and standardise our conversion methodology. --- # The Role You will be responsible for converting a wide variety of client engineering drawings into high-quality Esri GIS data suitable for operational use. Projects will typically involve: * Utility records * Civil engineering drawings * Infrastructure layouts * Highway schemes * Construction projects * Survey data * Asset records Each client may use different CAD standards, layer naming conventions, coordinate systems and data quality standards. Your role is to analyse these differences and produce clean, structured GIS datasets that align with our data model and quality standards. --- # Key Responsibilities You will: * Convert AutoCAD DWG, DXF and DGN files into Esri GIS datasets. * Design and maintain client-specific CAD-to-GIS mapping rules. * Build production-quality File Geodatabases. * Create Feature Classes and domains. * Configure attribute mapping. * Validate coordinate systems and transformations. * Perform geometry correction and topology validation. * Identify data quality issues and recommend improvements. * Develop repeatable conversion workflows. * Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). * Recommend automation opportunities using ArcGIS Pro, ArcPy, ModelBuilder or FME. * Support continuous improvement of our GIS conversion capability. * Work closely with our technical team to improve efficiency and consistency across multiple client projects. --- # Required Technical Skills ### Essential * ArcGIS Pro (expert level) * ArcGIS Online * Enterprise Geodatabases * File Geodatabases * Feature Classes * Domains and Subtypes * Spatial Reference Systems * Coordinate Transformations * CAD to GIS conversion * AutoCAD * DWG * DXF * DGN * Topology * Data validation * Metadata * GIS quality assurance ### Highly Desirable * ArcPy * Python scripting * ModelBuilder * FME * ArcGIS Data Interoperability * Utility Network * Linear Referencing * Survey data processing * ESRI Best Practices * Git version control --- # Experience Required Applicants should be able to demonstrate significant commercial experience delivering CAD-to-GIS conversion projects.
