Senior Full-Stack AI Developer (Remote, Contract – Healthcare Platform)

Summary healthcare technology company that helps streamline patient discharges by matching patients with trusted caregivers for in-home care, IADL, and ADL support. We are a small, fast-moving team. There is no separate QA, DevOps, or project management team. You will fully own what you build. About the Role (Read Carefully) 1.This is a senior, hands-on role. You will own the entire development lifecycle: Architecture & design Coding Testing Deployment Monitoring & maintenance 2.You are expected to use AI-assisted development tools daily (Claude, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) to move fast while maintaining production-quality standards. If you require detailed tickets, close supervision, or separate QA/DevOps support, this role is not a fit. 3.Key Responsibilities Design, build, test, and deploy full-stack features end-to-end Use AI-assisted tools for coding, testing, debugging, and documentation Build and maintain REST APIs and frontend features (React) Own AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and cost optimization Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests Ensure healthcare data security and PHI best practices Improve and scale caregiver-patient matching logic and analytics Communicate clearly about progress, risks, and blockers Required Technical Skills 4.AI & AI-Assisted Development Hands-on experience with AI coding tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot, Windsurf, etc.) Experience working with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic), embeddings, RAG, vector databases Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code Backend & Frontend Strong experience in Ruby on Rails OR Java/Python Strong experience with React REST API design and development Data & Infrastructure PostgreSQL (schema design, optimization) Redis or similar caching AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, ECS/EKS, CloudWatch, IAM) Docker, CI/CD (GitHub Actions or similar) Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar) 5.Quality & Security Strong automated testing experience Understanding of healthcare data security / HIPAA best practices Auth systems (JWT, OAuth2) Experience Requirements 8+ years professional software development experience Proven experience owning features from design to production Experience working remotely with distributed teams Strong written and spoken English Healthcare experience is a plus but not required. 6.How to Apply (Required) To be considered, your proposal must answer all three questions below: Which AI-assisted development tools do you use regularly, and how do they improve your workflow?
