Full Stack Developer (React/Node.js) for a Healthcare Patient Engagement SaaS

ABOUT THE PROJECT We're building a SaaS patient engagement and scheduling platform for small and mid-sized healthcare practices: the kind of independent clinics, physical therapy offices, and specialty practices that currently juggle phone bookings, paper intake forms, and generic reminder tools. The product gives each practice its own branded patient portal, online scheduling, intake, and secure messaging. We're looking for a small agency or full-stack team to build the MVP with us, React and Node.js by default. You'd own the build end to end and help shape the technical decisions along the way. WHAT WE'RE BUILDING (MVP) - Practice admin dashboard: manage providers, set availability, track appointments and no-shows - Patient-facing portal: book appointments, complete digital intake forms, message the front desk - Secure messaging and document upload, HIPAA-compliant by design - Automated reminders (SMS/email) with confirmation and rescheduling links - Multi-tenant setup, so each practice has its own branding and subdomain - Basic reporting on appointment volume, no-show rate, and intake completion per practice COMPLIANCE AND DATA SECURITY These two are the core of the product, so real experience here counts for a lot. - HIPAA-compliant architecture: encryption at rest and in transit, audit logging, role-based access control - Secure handling of PHI (protected health information) across intake forms, messaging, and file storage - BAA-ready infrastructure choices (hosting, email/SMS providers, storage) and a data model that supports them TECH Our default is React and Node.js. That said, we care more about the stack you'll build fastest and cleanest in, so if you'd make a different call, tell us why it fits this project. On the front end that could be React, Vue, Angular, or Next.js. On the back end, Node.js, Python, or PHP. The compliance, scheduling, and multi-tenant pieces are what any choice has to serve well. Whatever the stack: JavaScript where it applies, solid HTML5 and CSS3, a proper database for patients, appointments, and records (SQL or MongoDB), Git, and web design that matches each practice's branding. What matters to us is sound software design, sensible test coverage, and code we can build on after launch. HOW THIS STARTS Shortlisted candidates sign a short NDA, and we share the full spec, designs, and data model. The first phase is a paid test task, 8 to 10 hours. It gives us both a clear read on the fit before we commit to the MVP. If that goes well, we move into the full build together.
