Tech Advisor / (Charity Project – Child Protection EdTech – Vendor Selection + Build Oversight)

Job Description About PreventED PreventED is a project by NNECA, a UK child-protection organisation working to prevent child sexual abuse through education. We are building an AI-supported PWA training platform for UK primary school teachers to help them recognise early warning signs of abuse and protect vulnerable children. This is a mission-driven charity project focused on social impact, not a commercial startup. We are looking for a technical advisor / fractional CTO to guide the project from vendor selection through to final delivery of the MVP. Important – Please Read Before Applying • This role is NOT for developers • Agencies and development firms should NOT apply • We are seeking an independent technical advisor • The role must be proposed on a fixed-price basis (not hourly) Our original estimate was around $300, but we are open to reasonable fixed-price proposals from candidates who understand the scope. What You Will Do You will act as our independent technical lead and help us ensure the product is built correctly. Responsibilities include: Phase 1 – Technical Review & Vendor Selection • Review our existing technical brief • Evaluate developer proposals • Recommend final architecture (PWA-first approach) • Help interview and assess shortlisted vendors • Recommend the best development partner Phase 2 – Build Oversight • Attend periodic check-ins with the development team • Ensure the architecture and implementation are correct • Oversee progress against milestones • Ensure the final product meets the agreed technical scope • Support testing and final delivery The goal is to ensure the right vendor is chosen and the build is executed properly from start to finish. Ideal Background • Senior engineer, technical architect, or fractional CTO • Experience delivering PWAs or modern web applications • Experience overseeing external development teams • Familiarity with AI integrations (OpenAI, ML APIs) helpful but not required • Strong communication and documentation skills Why This Project Matters Child sexual abuse often goes undetected because teachers lack training to recognise early warning signs. PreventED aims to equip every UK primary school teacher with practical knowledge to identify and prevent abuse early. If successful, this platform could help protect thousands of vulnerable children.
