We are looking for a product-minded QA contractor to test every feature before release for Mage, a B2B SaaS data platform used to build, run, and monitor data pipelines and AI workflows. This is not basic website QA. We need someone who can understand product intent, test edge cases, identify regressions, and write clear bug reports that engineers can act on quickly. You will test new features in staging before they are released to production. Responsibilities: - Test new features before release - Create feature-specific test plans - Perform exploratory testing and regression testing - Reproduce bugs and write clear issue reports - Record screenshots/videos when useful - Test edge cases, permissions, empty states, loading states, errors, and browser behavior - Use Chrome DevTools to inspect console and network errors - Maintain regression checklists for recurring product flows - Help identify which flows should eventually become automated tests The product includes: - Data pipelines - Python, SQL, and dbt workflows - Triggers and schedules - Workspaces and permissions - Integrations - Deployment and production workflows - AI-assisted product features - Monitoring and observability Requirements: - Experience testing B2B SaaS or complex web applications - Strong manual QA and exploratory testing skills - Excellent written communication - Ability to write clear bug reports with repro steps, expected behavior, actual behavior, severity, screenshots/videos - Comfortable using Chrome DevTools - Comfortable testing ambiguous product flows without needing a perfect checklist Bonus: - API testing with Postman or similar tools - SQL or Python familiarity - Playwright or Cypress experience - Experience with developer tools, data platforms, workflow tools, or internal tools Initial paid trial: We will start with a 3–5 hour paid trial. You will be given access to a staging environment and a feature description. You will create a test plan, test the feature, report bugs, and suggest regression checklist items. Long-term: If successful, this can become an ongoing 20–30 hours/week contract.
