Fix Timeout Issue in Next.js + FastAPI

We have a small internal intake tool built with Next.js, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Azure App Service, and OpenAI API. The app collects form responses, sends the response to OpenAI for a short summary, and saves the result in PostgreSQL. It mostly works, but sometimes the form hangs or fails when the AI summary takes too long. We have a client demo next week and need the intake flow made more reliable before then. This is not a full rebuild. We only need someone to review the current submit flow, identify the issue, and make a small safe fix if possible. Initial scope: Review the Next.js submit flow Review the FastAPI endpoint Check OpenAI timeout/error handling Check the save flow to PostgreSQL Add a simple fallback if the AI summary fails Test the staging flow Provide a short summary of what changed Please mention what you can realistically complete within this first task.
