Senior WordPress Developer — Subcontract Partner (Agency Work)

Job Type: Hourly, with a not-to-exceed cap per phase (billed to us; our client deliverables are fixed-price) Estimated Duration: Project-based, with potential for ongoing overflow work Location: Remote, Canada preferred (Mountain Time overlap a plus) Scope of Work Discovery & UX - Review existing site structure, analytics, and UX - Participate in stakeholder workshops - Recommend information architecture and navigation improvements - Wireframes and responsive UI layouts Development - Custom WordPress theme and reusable Gutenberg block development - Configure WordPress for non-technical content editors - Build searchable content libraries: custom post types, taxonomies, advanced filtering, tagging, archive management - Integrate third-party platforms: CRM, event management, marketing automation, newsletter, analytics, authentication, webinar, and (ideally) payment platforms - Implement technical SEO and optimize Core Web Vitals - Accessibility implementation to WCAG 2.1 AA QA, Launch & Support - Cross-browser, mobile, and accessibility testing - Performance optimization and launch support - Optional ongoing retainer: updates, security monitoring, bug fixes, minor enhancements, analytics reporting Required Qualifications - 5+ years professional WordPress development experience - Strong PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 - Custom WordPress theme development - Gutenberg block development - Solid UX principles and experience planning large site architectures - Responsive design expertise - Git workflow experience - Strong communication skills; comfortable working independently with an agency partner (not direct-to-client) Preferred Experience - Large association, healthcare, non-profit, or membership organization websites - Educational resource libraries or learning management systems - Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), MySQL, REST APIs Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Search Console - Cloud hosting, Cloudflare, security hardening, CI/CD - Searchable knowledge base builds; AI-powered search a plus - Headless WordPress / Next.js integration experience a plus - Multilingual (EN/FR) site experience a plus How to Apply Please include: 1.
