Senior Full-Stack Developer, Contract

About GALA GALA is a Canadian agetech company helping families find and coordinate care for older adults. Our platform connects families with care providers and supports the process from intake and matching through scheduling, service delivery and payment. The platform is largely built and is now moving toward live testing and launch. We are looking for an experienced full-stack developer to help complete, stabilize and improve the platform. The Role You will work directly with the founder to review the existing platform, understand the user flow and help bring the product to launch readiness. This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable working with an existing codebase, resolving issues, improving functionality and making practical recommendations based on the needs of the business. Scope of Work The work will generally include: Reviewing and becoming familiar with the existing platform and codebase. Resolving bugs and improving platform stability and performance. Refining user flows across the admin, care provider and client portals. Completing and improving existing features. Supporting integrations such as notifications, payments and third-party services. Improving data accuracy and consistency across the platform. Testing changes and ensuring existing functionality is not disrupted. Supporting the development workflow and use of AI-assisted coding tools. Helping prepare the platform for live user testing and launch. Implementing security and technical improvements as required. Providing ongoing technical recommendations as the platform evolves. The specific priorities and deliverables will be discussed with selected candidates. Required Experience Strong full-stack development experience with Next.js and React. Experience with Supabase, PostgreSQL and Vercel. Experience working with authentication, databases and role-based user access. Experience integrating APIs, notifications and payment systems. Ability to troubleshoot and improve an existing platform. Strong testing and quality assurance practices. Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot. Ability to work within company-controlled repositories and development accounts. What We Are Looking For The right person will: Take ownership of work and follow issues through to completion. Document important changes for future development. Experience with healthcare, marketplaces, matching platforms, scheduling systems or privacy-sensitive applications would be an asset.
