Healthcare Integration Engineer – AthenaOne + AWS + AI (FHIR/API)

We are a medical specialty practice in the United States looking for an experienced healthcare integration engineer to build a secure, HIPAA-compliant data platform around our AthenaOne EHR. The initial objective is to automatically extract clinical data from AthenaOne on a scheduled basis, store it securely in the cloud, and build a foundation for AI-powered search and clinical analysis. Phase 1 – Data Integration Build a secure pipeline that: Connects to AthenaOne using APIs, FHIR and Athena Data View. Performs daily incremental synchronization (new and updated records only) Extracts clinical data including: Patient demographics Encounters Provider notes Diagnoses Medications Allergies Laboratory results Imaging reports Procedures Orders Documents/attachments (where available) Stores raw data securely in AWS S3 Maintains detailed audit logs Includes monitoring and failure notifications Phase 2 – Searchable Clinical Database Design a scalable architecture that: Normalizes clinical data Creates a searchable database Supports full-text search across charts Maintains historical versions Supports incremental updates Phase 3 – AI Layer Develop an AI platform capable of: Summarizing patient charts Creating longitudinal patient timelines Searching across all patient records Identifying patient cohorts Analyzing treatment outcomes Supporting research queries Generating clinical insights
