Claude Specialist — Build AI Automations for a Contracting Company

We're an established contracting company in Oklahoma that runs on custom internal software — we have several internal apps in active development and we're adding AI automation to the stack. We're looking for a developer who specializes in the Claude API to build these automations with us, starting with one well-defined project and growing from there for the right person. The first project: an internal workflow automation that turns structured job information into a finished, formatted document — replacing a manual process with a near-instant one. The architecture is already designed: 1. Intake layer (Claude): A standardized checklist of job information per line of business. Claude fills the checklist from real-world inputs — dictated field notes, photos, records from our internal systems — validates the data, and flags missing required fields before anything proceeds. 2. Calculation engine (deterministic — no AI in the math): We have a proven, formula-driven parametric Excel model with tunable input parameters. You'll port that logic into code so the same inputs produce the same outputs every time, with the tuning levers exposed to the owner. The AI never performs the calculations. 3. Generation layer (Claude): Claude maps the job details to the correct catalog line items, runs sanity checks against current-market reference data, and drafts the final formatted document. Validation is a first-class requirement. Before this goes into production, it gets tested against 20–50 historical cases where we know the real-world outcome. You'll build the eval framework that measures output accuracy against that historical data, and we tune until the system matches or beats the current manual process. Initial rollout is draft-plus-human-approval. Integration context: REST APIs; the tool will eventually integrate with our in-house CRM (in active development). We use the Claude API, and familiarity with Claude's tool use, structured outputs, and Agent Skills is expected. Full project details shared with shortlisted candidates. What you must have: Shipped production applications on the Claude API — not chatbot demos. You'll be asked to show them. Hands-on experience with tool use / function calling and structured outputs Experience designing evals — measuring an AI system's output quality against ground-truth data Solid backend skills (Python or Node.js), including porting spreadsheet/business logic into tested code Clear written communication — you'll work with a non-technical owner and a project manager
