HIPAA-Compliant AI Workflow Engineer

Overview We are a multi-location dental implant and oral surgery practice in Northern California operating across three brands. We are looking for a skilled AI engineer to design, build, and deploy HIPAA-compliant AI workflows and automations across our marketing, operations, and patient communication systems. This is a hands-on technical role. We need someone who can take a use case from concept to working implementation — not someone who consults on strategy. What You Will Build HIPAA-compliant AI workflows using the Anthropic / Claude API — processing patient-adjacent data with full compliance controls in place Automated lead qualification and follow-up sequences that integrate with Salesforce CRM and our call center operations AI-powered content generation pipelines for SEO and patient education content across multiple branded websites Voice AI and conversational agent implementations for patient intake, appointment reminders, and after-hours coverage Workflow automations that connect Salesforce, CareStack (our dental PMS), RingCentral, CallRail, and other tools in our stack Data pipelines with proper PHI handling, encryption, access controls, and audit logging as required by HIPAA LLM-powered reporting and analytics tools that surface actionable insights from our CRM and practice data Requirements Proven experience building production-grade applications with the Anthropic Claude API — please include portfolio examples or links in your proposal Deep understanding of HIPAA technical safeguards — you know what PHI is, how to handle it, and how to build systems that are compliant by design, not as an afterthought Strong Python and/or JavaScript skills — you write clean, documented, maintainable code Experience with REST API integrations — our stack includes Salesforce, CareStack, RingCentral, CallRail, and various marketing platforms Ability to work independently and deliver working implementations, not decks or proposals Clear written communication — you can explain what you built, why it works, and what to watch for Nice to Have Experience in dental, medical, or healthcare technology environments Familiarity with Salesforce development, Flows, or Marketing Cloud Experience with voice AI, conversational agents, or patient communication automation Knowledge of GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) and AI search visibility strategies Experience building AI-powered SEO or content systems at scale Understanding of LLM prompt engineering, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), and fine-tuning What Good Looks Like The right person for this role has built something real with Claude. They understand that HIPAA compliance in AI is not a checkbox — it is an architecture decision made at the beginning, not bolted on at the end. They have connected APIs before, debugged integration failures at 11pm, and shipped working tools that non-technical users actually use. They do not need to be managed. They need to be pointed at a problem.
