AI Product Builder & Automation Consultant (Part-Time Contract)

About Bells of Steel Bells of Steel is a fast-growing Canadian e-commerce company selling premium home and commercial gym equipment across North America. We operate a complex tech stack spanning Brightpearl (ERP), Shopify (DTC), Amazon, Klaviyo (email/SMS), EasyPost (shipping), Gorgias (support), Inventory Planner, Plytix (PIM), and several custom-built internal tools. We run on EOS and move fast. The Role We're looking for an AI-first product builder and automation consultant to work part-time (15–25 hrs/week) alongside our CEO and small internal team. You won't just advise — you'll ship. This role is about building real internal tools, automating workflows, and integrating AI into our daily operations. You'll own end-to-end delivery on projects like: • AI copilots and agents that pull live data from our ERP, Shopify, and shipping systems • Workflow automation across platforms (order routing, inventory alerts, freight quoting, invoice auditing) • Internal dashboards and reporting tools (real-time ops, marketing performance, inventory health) • CRM and support enhancements (auto-triage, smart responses, customer insights) • Document automation (product manuals, PDP content, import/export files) • Knowledge management systems and AI-powered internal search • Custom API integrations between Brightpearl, Shopify, Klaviyo, EasyPost, Day & Ross, Amazon SP-API, and more What We're Looking For • Proven experience building production-grade internal tools and automations (not just prototypes) • Strong Python skills; comfort with Node.js, REST APIs, and webhook-driven architectures • Experience with AI/LLM integration — prompt engineering, function calling, RAG, agent frameworks • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms (Shopify, Amazon) and ERP systems • Ability to work autonomously, scope projects, and ship iteratively • Bonus: experience with Claude/Anthropic APIs, MCP servers, Supabase, or Vercel • Bonus: security review experience (API key management, access controls, data handling) How We Work • Async-first with weekly syncs • Projects are scoped in 1–2 week sprints • You'll work directly with the CEO — no layers of management • We value speed, pragmatism, and AI-native thinking • We use Claude (Anthropic) extensively — if you've built with Claude, you'll fit right in To Apply Please include: 1.
