AWS DevOps / Platform Engineer for Infrastructure Modernization

We are looking for an experienced AWS DevOps / Platform Engineer to help us improve and modernize our AWS-based production and data-processing infrastructure. We work with data ingestion, report generation, analysis pipelines, UI services, and BI-related infrastructure. Our AWS environment includes services such as ECS/Fargate, EC2, Step Functions, Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, replicated databases, and QuickSight-related services. WHAT WE NEED HELP WITH We want someone who can review the current setup, identify improvement opportunities, and help us move toward a cleaner, more reliable platform. Initial focus areas: * Review current AWS architecture and deployment flows * Improve CI/CD and release processes * Standardize scheduled, batch, and operational workload execution * Improve report-generation and data-processing workflows * Help package workloads with Docker and publish to ECR * Recommend appropriate execution models using ECS/Fargate, AWS Batch, EC2, Step Functions, or serverless services * Improve logging, monitoring, alerts, and operational runbooks * Review and improve CDK/IaC practices for AWS services * Improve IAM, secrets management, environment separation, and production safety * Help define practical DevOps/platform standards for a small engineering team Required experience: * Strong hands-on AWS production experience * ECS/Fargate, EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, CloudWatch * Docker and ECR * Jenkins or similar CI/CD tools * Step Functions or workflow orchestration * CDK, Terraform or similar IaC tools * IAM, networking, secrets management, and production security basics * Experience with scheduled jobs, batch workloads, workers, or data pipelines * Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in a remote setup Nice to have: * AWS Batch experience * Experience modernizing legacy CI/CD or workload execution patterns * Experience with data pipelines, report generation, or BI-supporting systems * Experience creating practical DevOps/platform standards for small teams * Cost optimization and observability experience Responsibilities: * Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines * Manage AWS cloud infrastructure * Automate deployment, monitoring, and scaling processes * Improve system reliability, performance, and security * Collaborate closely with development and product teams * Troubleshoot production issues and provide ongoing DevOps support We are looking for someone pragmatic and hands-on — not just a consultant. The right person should be able to reason about tradeoffs, implement improvements, document decisions, and help developers work safely without becoming a deployment bottleneck.
