I need an experienced PCB/hardware engineer to review and verify a KiCad 9 design for an EPD (e-paper) controller board. The board serves as an intermediary between a 7.5" color e-paper display (TWE0750MNJ30-CNG-A0) and an ESP32 microcontroller. Board Overview: - 50-pin FPC connector input (connects to TWE0750MNJ30 display flat cable) - 9-pin 2.54mm header output (SPI + control signals to external ESP32) - On-board boost converters, charge pump capacitors, decoupling, and power distribution - 70×45mm, 2-layer PCB - All SMD components (0402, 0603, 0805, 1210, SOT-323, SOD-123, 6.3mm inductors) What needs to be done: 1. Schematic Review - Verify all connections against the TWE0750MNJ30 datasheet reference circuit (PDF provided) - Check boost stage 1 (VPH): L1 + Q1 NMOS + R1 sense + D1/D2/D3 + output caps - Check boost stage 2 (VPC): L2 + Q2 PMOS + R3 sense + D4 + output caps - Verify charge pump cap connections (C16-C21) to correct FPC pins (41-46) - Confirm bus selection (BS0/BS1 tied to GND for 4-wire SPI mode) - Confirm I2C pull-ups (TSCL/TSDA) and power rail distribution (VDD, VDDD, VDDIO) - Verify 9-pin output header carries correct SPI signals (SCLK, MOSI, CS, DC, RST, BUSY) 2. PCB Layout Review - Check component placement for manufacturing feasibility - Verify no courtyard overlaps or DRC violations - Review trace routing feasibility (design currently has placement only, no traces) - Check ground plane coverage on back copper layer - Verify FPC connector footprint orientation and pin 1 alignment - Confirm mounting hole placement doesn't conflict with components 3. Route the PCB (optional, or advise on critical routing) - Route power traces (boost converter loops should be tight) - Route SPI signals with proper impedance - Ensure star-ground or proper ground return paths for switching circuits 4. Generate Manufacturing Outputs - Gerber files - Drill files - BOM with LCSC/Mouser/Digikey part numbers - Pick-and-place file Files Provided: - KiCad 9 project (schematic + PCB + project file) - TWE0750MNJ30-CNG-A0 datasheet PDF (includes reference circuit on page 10) - Python generator scripts (for reference on design intent) Key Specs: - 3.3V single supply (from ESP32 side) - 4-wire SPI interface - Boost converters generate VPH (20V) and VPC (-15V) for EPD driving - SPD1657B-based controller IC is integrated inside the display panel itself Required Skills: - KiCad 9 proficiency - Experience with e-paper/EPD driver circuits - Understanding of boost converter PCB layout (tight switching loops) - SMD design for small form factor boards Deliverables: - Annotated review document (issues found + fixes) - Corrected KiCad project files (if changes needed) - Routed PCB (if routing is included in scope) - Gerber + BOM + CPL files ready for JLCPCB/PCBWay
