Build a Google First-Page and Map-Pack Rank Tracker

We currently pay a worker to manually search thousands of keywords each quarter and record where each client ranks in Google. We would like to automate most of this process. The initial system should check the first page of Google for each keyword, identify the client’s organic and map-pack rankings, and write the results into a spreadsheet. We are open to the developer recommending the best technical approach. Bright Data’s SERP API is one option we are considering, but it is not required if you recommend something more dependable. ** We want to own and operate the completed system in-house. The system should: - Search a list of keywords on Google - Check only the first page of results - Determine whether the client’s website appears - Record the organic position - Record the ranking URL - Record the search date - Map-Pack Matching The system should identify whether the client appears in the local map pack shown on the first page of a regular Google search. We are also open to checking Google Maps directly if that provides better or more reliable results. It is important that the system does not incorrectly match a similarly named business. *Spreadsheet Integration* We would like to use a standardized spreadsheet containing information such as: - Client business name - Client website - Search location (UULE) - Keywords The completed ranking results should be written back into the spreadsheet in a clear and organized format. Regular listings and map listings need to be noted separately. *Manual Client Runs* We need an easy way to run rankings for a specific client in the future. We should be able to: - Recheck all existing keywords for one client - Add new keywords for an existing client - Run only the newly added keywords - View the results without needing a developer each time A custom dashboard is not required. A simple and dependable method using a spreadsheet, button, command, or similar interface is totally fine. *Additional Features if Possible* The system would ideally be capable of supporting these other items as well: - Identify and classify client Facebook results - Identify and classify client LinkedIn results Capturing and saving screenshots of the results for proof would be a wishlist item, but not crucial. The project should begin with a smaller pilot so we can compare the automated results with our existing manual process before expanding it. *Important Requirements* - Results must be dependable and repeatable - Organic and map-pack rankings must be recorded separately - Failed searches must be distinguished from “not found” (we can use humans to manually run any failed search and do not want false data) - The system would ideally support retries and interrupted runs - Similar businesses must not be incorrectly matched Accuracy and reliability are more important than creating a complicated dashboard.
