We are seeking a proactive, coachable Junior WordPress Developer to join our team on an ongoing, stable contract basis. This is a long-term role, not a short-term project. Important Work Hours Requirement: - You must be available to work 30–40 hours a week during US Central Time zone hours Key Responsibilities - Assist in building and maintaining WordPress websites - Support senior developers in theme and plugin development, including work built from scratch rather than relying solely on page builders - Clean up, organize, and write standards-compliant code that follows WordPress coding standards - Help translate project requirements into functional solutions - Troubleshoot bugs and assist in resolving technical sites - Optimize WordPress pages for performance, responsiveness, and speed Required Skills & Experience - WPadmin.AI Experience: Experience using the WPadmin AI plugin in your personal projects (details/documentation link will be shared with shortlisted applicants). - 1–2 years of hands-on WordPress development (freelance or internship experience is perfectly fine). - Working knowledge of the WordPress Codex / Developer Resources — you should be comfortable navigating official documentation to find the right function, hook, or template tag rather than guessing. - Ability to build a basic WordPress theme from scratch — understanding of the template hierarchy, core template files (index.php, functions.php, header.php, footer.php, single.php, page.php), and how The Loop works. - Ability to build a simple custom plugin from scratch — plugin header structure, activation/deactivation hooks, and where plugin code belongs versus theme code. - Basic understanding of core WordPress functions and APIs — including actions and filters (add_action, add_filter), enqueuing scripts and styles properly (wp_enqueue_script, wp_enqueue_style), WP_Query and custom queries, and basic data-handling functions (get_post_meta, get_option). - Awareness of basic WordPress security practices such as sanitizing input, escaping output, and using nonces. - Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. - Familiarity with page builders like Elementor or Divi. - Basic understanding of version control using Git/GitHub. - Strong willingness to learn, take feedback, and communicate clearly in English. Nice-to-Have (Not Required) - Exposure to AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, or similar). - Familiarity with ACF, WooCommerce, and APIs. - Custom post types and taxonomies registered via code. - Awareness of responsive web design and WCAG accessibility standards.
