We are looking for a backend developer for a short paid trial project.
(This is a short paid trial project. The expected trial deliverable is within 5–7 days. If the trial goes well, we are open to a long-term contract.)
The project is a poker training web app for Texas Hold’em players. It is not an online gambling product.
We are not trying to build a full poker solver from scratch. The goal is to build a lightweight backend system for poker training, range charts, quizzes, and user progress tracking.
For this trial, we only need a small backend prototype and a clear technical structure.
Trial scope:
- Design a simple backend/database structure for poker training data
- Build a small API prototype
- Create a basic quiz and answer-checking flow
- Track basic user mistakes or progress
- Provide a short explanation of the technical approach
Preferred stack:
- TypeScript / Node.js
- PostgreSQL
- REST API
- Redis is a plus
Poker knowledge is preferred, but you do not need to be a poker professional.
Basic understanding of Texas Hold’em rules, positions, hand notation, and betting actions is enough.
Experience with poker training tools or solvers is a plus, but not required.
For the trial, sample or fake poker data is fine. We mainly want to test your backend architecture, data modeling, and API design ability.
If the trial goes well, we are open to a long-term contract.
Please answer:
1. Do you understand the basic rules of Texas Hold’em?
2. Have you ever played poker or used any poker training app?
3. What backend stack would you recommend for this prototype and why?
4. Have you built any quiz, education, training, or data-heavy product before?
5. Are you available for a short paid trial first, with possible long-term work after?
