Job Description We’re looking for a thoughtful, detail-oriented full-stack developer to join our team working on Feedotter, a SaaS application with both a legacy backend and a modern frontend. This is ongoing work (20–30 hours/week) with the potential to grow into a full-time role. This role is not about rushing out code. It’s about writing solid, well-tested, well-reasoned code—and being able to clearly explain your decisions. ## What You’ll Be Doing - Adding small to medium features across the application - Debugging and fixing issues across both frontend and backend - Gradually learning the system and taking on more ownership over time - Collaborating with the team to clarify requirements when specs aren’t perfect - Writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code ## Tech Stack ### Backend (Legacy): - PHP (Symfony framework) - Doctrine ORM & migrations - MySQL ### Frontend (Modern): -React -Next.js -MongoDB You don’t need to be world-class in everything, but you must be comfortable working across the stack. ##What We’re Looking For - Strong Engineering Habits - You test your work before submitting it - You reread and validate your code - You think through edge cases - You ask questions when something is unclear - AI-Assisted Development (Required) We expect developers to use tools like Cursor, Claude Code, etc. However: - You must fully understand the code you ship - You can explain why you implemented something a certain way - You don’t blindly copy/paste generated code Product Thinking - You can spot gaps in specs - You suggest better approaches when appropriate - You help us arrive at the right solution, not just the requested one Communication -Clear written communication -Proactive about blockers and questions -Comfortable explaining technical decisions ## What This Role Is NOT - Not a “generate code as fast as possible” role - Not a task-only execution role with zero thinking - Not a fit if you rely on AI without understanding the output ## Hours & Rate - 20–30 hours per week to start - Potential to grow into full-time - Target rate: ~$40–$60/hour depending on experience ## To Apply, Please include: - A brief description of a recent project where you worked across both frontend and backend - How you use AI tools in your workflow (be specific) - An example of a bug you debugged recently and how you approached it - Your experience with Symfony and/or Next.js If you’re someone who takes pride in your work, thinks critically, and wants to grow with a product over time, we’d love to talk.
