Full-Stack Developer (Next.js / Prisma / MySQL) — Build a Parts Inventory Feature
We're looking for a skilled full-stack developer to build a new Parts Inventory feature into our existing platform — a SaaS web application for the automotive/garage industry. There's
strong potential for ongoing work beyond this first project if it's a good fit.
About the task
The initial scope is a parts inventory module. Broadly, this means:
- Tracking parts/stock items (name, SKU/part number, quantity on hand, cost & sale price, supplier)
- Adding, editing, and removing inventory items through a clean UI
- Adjusting stock levels (manual adjustments, and ideally linking parts to existing jobs/work orders so stock decrements automatically)
- Low-stock visibility and basic search/filtering
We'll provide a detailed spec and access to the codebase once we've selected a candidate. This first feature is also a way for us to evaluate working together before committing to more.
Our stack
- Frontend: Next.js 14 (App Router) + TypeScript
- Backend: Next.js API routes with Prisma ORM
- Database: MySQL 8
- Infra: Docker
You should be comfortable working within an existing codebase, matching established patterns and conventions rather than reinventing them, and integrating cleanly with what's already
there.
What we're looking for
- Solid experience with Next.js, TypeScript, Prisma (or similar ORMs), and MySQL
- Comfort with Docker-based local development
- A focus on clean, maintainable code and thoughtful integration with existing systems
- Good communication and the ability to collaborate with our team to scope, build, and resolve issues efficiently
On AI tools
We have no problem with candidates using AI assistants (Copilot, Claude, Cursor, etc.) to help write code — we use them ourselves. What matters is that you understand, review, and stand
behind the code you deliver, and that it meets our quality and architectural standards.
To apply
Briefly tell us about a similar feature you've built in a Next.js/Prisma stack, your typical approach to working inside an existing codebase, and your availability. Strong candidates can
expect a steady pipeline of additional work.
