SaaS Mid/Senior Laravel Engineer for Project Development and Modernization

We are looking for a skilled, forward-thinking engineer to help us take our core platform to the next level. This is not just a maintenance gig—it is an exciting opportunity to breathe new life into a legacy codebase, migrate it to modern standards, and build out high-impact, critical business features that will directly drive our growth. We’re looking for someone that brings their own experience and ideas, coupled with a strong desire to improve the codebase they’re working on. If you want to just turn up and complete Jira tickets then this isn’t the role for you! Responsibilities Team Collaboration: Work closely with our Engineering Manager and a cross-functional development team to align on technical specs, estimate tasks, and deliver sprint goals. You will act as an extension of our in-house team and work alongside them day-to-day Modernization & Refactoring: Gradually refactor and migrate legacy PHP/Laravel code to the latest Laravel version, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability. Continuous Improvement: Constantly review, refactor, and level up both existing legacy code and your own new contributions to maintain a highly maintainable, modern architecture. Code Quality & Testing: Experience writing comprehensive automated tests (PHPUnit/Pest), participating in constructive peer code reviews, and champion quality assurance (QA) practices to keep our main branch rock-solid. Feature Development: Build critical business tools, custom APIs, and user-facing featureS. Database Optimization: Audit, optimize, and streamline our MySQL database queries to improve platform speed and responsiveness.
