PostgreSQL Image Export Automation

I’m running a commercial off-the-shelf application whose back-end is a PostgreSQL database. All image assets live inside the tables in a proprietary, native format, and I now have to extract every file to disk so they can be used as regular JPEG, PNG or TIFF images...
