Experienced Developer for High-Accuracy Oversize Permit Routing (React + Google Maps / OSRM) Job Description: I’m building a web application that converts trucking PDFs into accurate routes on Google Maps. The goal is to take a permit’s route table and generate a clean, reliable Google Maps route that closely follows the permitted path, including proper handling of mandatory safety bypasses (such as low bridge detours). Current Situation: I have a working React + TypeScript frontend with Google Maps. The backend uses a combination of Google DirectionsService + custom waypoint logic, and we’ve recently started exploring OSRM for better corridor geometry. However, we’re still facing recurring accuracy issues: Origin and Destination often don’t land correctly on highways at state lines. Routes create unnecessary loops and detours off the main corridor. Mandatory bypasses are not handled cleanly. Core Requirements: Drag-and-drop PDF permit upload (support for multiple files) High-accuracy parsing of route tables and instructions from government permit PDFs Smart extraction of highways, ramps, intersections, and turn-by-turn directions Generate accurate routes that closely follow the permitted path (using Google Maps + waypoints or a hybrid OSRM/geometry-based approach) Handle mandatory safety bypasses correctly Add a weight stations layer on the map Add bridge clearance data/layer for major bridges Include a route verification feature (side-by-side comparison between permit text and generated route) Clean, professional, trucker-friendly UI (mobile-friendly) We’ve tried multiple iterations, but the same problems keep returning. I believe the current architecture has limitations for this level of precision. What I’m Looking For: I’m looking for someone experienced with routing systems and Google Maps / OSRM who can help redesign or significantly improve the routing logic to achieve high corridor accuracy. Tech Stack: React + TypeScript Google Maps JavaScript API Node.js / Express Currently exploring OSRM for geometry-based routing To Apply: Please reply with a short answer to this question: Briefly share your experience with Google Maps routing and/or OSRM/geometry-based routing, and how long you think it would take to make Kansas reliable. I will also attach a sample Kansas permit route for reference. This is a serious project. I’m looking for someone who can prove they can deliver a reliable solution.
