About the Role Please read carefully before applying.. We are looking for an experienced HTML Website Developer who embraces AI as a core part of their development workflow. This is not a traditional HTML development role. We are looking for someone who combines strong HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills with advanced use of AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or similar AI coding assistants to rapidly analyse, modify and improve websites. If your normal workflow is to manually code every change from scratch and AI only plays a small part in your process, this role is probably not the right fit. About Us We build modern, high-performing websites for local businesses across a wide range of industries. Most projects are: Static HTML websites Small and medium-sized business websites Marketing-focused Hosted on Cloudflare Pages or Netlify Initially created using AI-assisted workflows before being refined and maintained We do not build ecommerce platforms or large web applications. How We Work Our websites are already designed and built before they reach you. You will typically receive: A fully working website The complete HTML project files (via GitHub or ZIP where appropriate) A clear specification of requested changes You will not be building websites from scratch. Instead, your role is to quickly understand the existing project, make improvements, test thoroughly, and return clean, production-ready code. Typical Tasks Projects may include: Reviewing an existing HTML website Analysing the project structure Fixing HTML, CSS or JavaScript issues Improving responsiveness Adding new service pages Creating blog and article pages Updating navigation Adding FAQs Improving internal linking Updating layouts Fixing design inconsistencies Optimising existing pages Publishing clean updates ready for deployment Most work involves maintaining and improving existing websites rather than creating completely new ones. AI Is Essential AI should be central to your workflow. You should already be highly proficient with tools such as: Claude ChatGPT Cursor GitHub Copilot (optional) Other AI-assisted development tools You should know how to: Analyse existing HTML projects using AI Write high-quality prompts Generate new pages quickly Debug websites efficiently Refactor existing code Match existing designs accurately Use AI to dramatically reduce development time while maintaining quality We are looking for developers who understand both traditional web development and modern AI-assisted workflows. Technical Requirements Excellent HTML5 Strong CSS Good JavaScript knowledge Responsive web design Website debugging GitHub experience Experience working with Cloudflare Pages or Netlify Strong understanding of AI-assisted development Excellent attention to detail Strong English communication skills The Ideal Candidate You are: Fast and efficient Highly organised A strong problem solver Business-minded Creative Comfortable working independently Able to take ownership of tasks Happy working from concise specifications rather than lengthy explanations Typical Workflow A project may look like this: You receive: Access to a GitHub repository (preferred) or website ZIP file A live website link A list of requested improvements For example: Add a new service page Create a blog article Update navigation Improve mobile responsiveness Fix layout issues Add internal links Update metadata Test the completed website You analyse the project, use AI where appropriate to accelerate development, implement the requested changes, test everything thoroughly, and submit the completed work. Paid AI-Focused Trial Project Shortlisted applicants will complete a small paid trial project before any long-term work is offered. The purpose of the trial is not only to assess your HTML skills, but also how effectively you use AI to solve problems. You will receive: A small HTML website Approximately 15 to 20 realistic maintenance tasks A reasonable completion deadline We are looking for developers who can combine AI and technical knowledge to deliver high-quality work efficiently. Speed, quality, communication and problem-solving are all part of the assessment. Long-Term Opportunity Initially, work will be offered on a per-project basis. For the right person, this will quickly develop into a regular part-time or full-time position. We expect to hire two developers over time.
