Configure Vintage Pi TV Boot - Pi 4

I’ve cloned the vintage-pi-tv project (https://github.com/dtcooper/vintage-pi-tv) exactly as-is, with no custom tweaks, but it never reaches any channels/interface dashboard, or vintage-TV splash on boot; instead I end up at the regular blank screen on the pi 4 monitor...
