Principal IT Platform Engineer

We are a premium technology consulting firm serving biotech organizations. We are looking for an exceptional platform engineer to help us scale our internal delivery capabilities, build reusable internal products, and create a stronger automation foundation across the business. We currently use Rewst as one of our automation platforms, and it needs further buildout. However, we are not looking for someone who is narrowly tied to one tool. We are looking for someone who can help us determine the right architecture, tooling, patterns, and roadmap for how automation and platform engineering should work inside our firm. This role will report directly into the CTO and will be highly strategic. The right person should be able to help set the vision, design the operating model, build the platform, and run it with high engineering standards. What We Need Help With We are looking for someone who can help us: -Define the automation and platform engineering strategy for the firm -Evaluate and use the right tools for the job, including Rewst where appropriate -Design scalable platform automations for a consulting / managed services environment -Build reusable workflows, integrations, scripts, dashboards, and internal tools -Create security dashboards and operational reporting for internal and client-facing use cases -Automate software and tool deployment workflows across client environments -Support Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Azure, endpoint, SaaS, and identity automation use cases -Improve reporting across service delivery, security posture, customer health, QBRs, onboarding, and recurring operational work -Help turn repeatable consulting work into structured internal products -Integrate systems such as Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Slack, ticketing systems, documentation platforms, CRM, project management tools, and other client or internal systems -Establish standards for automation design, documentation, monitoring, alerting, error handling, and supportability -Help define the roadmap for automation, internal products, dashboards, and platform engineering inside the firm What Makes This Role Different We are not looking for someone to simply “automate some tasks.” We are looking for a strategic builder who can help us create a real automation and platform engineering function. The right person should be comfortable asking thoughtful questions, challenging assumptions, proposing better approaches, and helping us build capabilities that scale. You should be able to operate at both levels: -Strategy: What should the platform become? What should we automate first? What tooling should we use? What data should be captured? What should be reported to leadership and customers? -How should workflows be designed so they are reusable and maintainable? -Execution: Build the workflows, connect the APIs, create the dashboards, automate the deployments, document the solution, test it, and improve it over time.
